Heating & Plumbing Systems

Many homes have old gravity systems, which is where you have a cold water storage tank in the loft and a hot water tank in the airing cupboard. I can upgrade your system to an unvented pressurised system. The benefits of this are that it gives you the equivalent of mains pressure throughout the house for hot and cold water which means much better flow rates, so your shower and bath performance should be higher. The other major benefit is that you don’t need to maintain a cold water tank in the loft which  frees up space. In addition, since you aren’t relying on gravity to move the hot water around the home, the unvented cylinder can be located pretty much anywhere in your property. Other advantages of installing an unvented system include reduced noise in the system (since there is no cold water filling of the water storage cistern), and since there is no water storage cistern the cold water is not at risk from contamination.

In this property an extension to the house to create a Granny annexe meant the owners had the opportunity to switch to an electric boiler. I installed a sealed heating system and underfloor heating in this home, modernising and updating their heating and plumbing system.

Here I swapped a gravity system swapped to an unvented cylinder. The existing hot water tank was stripped out, a new main was put in to supply the new tank, and a pressurised heating system was also added.

In this family home a gravity system was swapped for an unvented cylinder to improve flow rates in the property.
